Ainsley S. Martin, MS, CCC-SLP
Owner/ Speech-Language Pathologist

Ainsley Martin received her BA in Linguistics from Binghamton University and her MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University. Since graduation, she has worked in medical settings serving a wide variety of patient populations. Ainsley’s passion for providing patients with functional, person-centered, and evidence-based treatment led her to founding State of Mind Speech & Swallowing. She also prides herself on providing education and resources to empower patients and caregivers to make informed decisions. Ainsley also provides mentorship to graduate students and new graduates during their clinical fellowship year. In her spare time, Ainsley enjoys travel, exercise, and new culinary adventures.

  • Achievements & Awards: Ainsley has received recognition from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) for her commitment to continued learning and professional development earning 7 awards for continuing education (a total of 490 hours) since 2017. She is currently pursuing board certification in both swallowing/swallowing disorders (BCSS) and neurological communication disorders (BC-ANCDS).

  • Certifications: She holds additional certifications as a dementia care specialist, certified provider of the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Protocol, manual therapy for voice and swallowing, Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL), Ampcare Effective Swallowing Protocol, and is a certified endoscopist.

  • Professional Affiliations: Ainsley has been a guest speaker at Syracuse University, a presenter at the Alzheimer’s caregiver support group at Brookdale, has been invited to provide facility training, and present at conferences. She has also contributed three peer-reviewed clinical resources to the Medical SLP Collective. Ainsley is a member of ASHA, the National Foundation of Swallowing Disorders (NFOSD), Dysphagia Research Society (DRS), New York State Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NYSSLHA), Central New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Central New York Speech-Language and Hearing Association (CNYSLHA) where she serves on the executive board and co-chairs the medical-study group.

Bethany Markley, MS, CF-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Fellow

Bethany Markley received her BA in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University and her MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University in 2021. As a student, she was fortunate to work with patients across the lifespan from early childhood to geriatrics. Her passions in the field include; aural rehabilitation, voice therapy, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and well as person-centered cognitive-linguistic therapy. After completing her medical rotation at State of Mind Speech & Swallowing during her graduate studies, Bethany is excited to join the team as a clinical fellow to further develop her skills as a Speech-Language Pathologist, providing patients with care tailored to their specific needs and goals. In her spare time, Bethany enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, social dancing, and crafting.

Certifications: Bethany holds certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). She looks forward to adding additional certifications in the near future.
